WHY YOU NEED TO READ?

The saying ‘A good reader is a good leader’ is a perfect rhyme and a common adage. It inspires souls that can think beyond the present situation. But today, we have learned people at our helms of affairs and still, most of news columnists still submitted that the problem of Nigeria is bad leadership. Are these leaders bad readers?

If today’s leaders were bad readers, what will today’s readers be tomorrow?

WHY DO YOU READ?

During your school days, you have to read wide. If you are arts student, you will have to read different texts on drama and prose. Also, you will have to engage in literary appreciation of poetry. As a science student, you will have to memorise laws, and experiment different theories. Same goes with other field of learning, but the simple question is ‘Why do you read all these materials?’ ‘Of what importance are the formulas you are memorizing?’ The question is not far fetch; ‘To become a useful element in the society’.

Never mind the difficulties you are undergoing in reading today, you will understand its benefit tomorrow

APART FROM ACADEMIC MATERIALS, WHAT CAN YOU READ?

Dear, do not strain your brain too much by reading academic materials alone. Diversify. Read motivational books and read about happenstances in your immediate environment. This will aid you to see beyond your eyes. As a Nigerian, among the adage I learnt from my parents is ‘A fool at forty is a fool forever’. But when I read Tony Buzan’s motivational book, I learnt that ‘A dog at forty can still learn a new trick’.

If a dog at forty can learn a new trick, why will a fool at forty be a fool forever? Guys, age is nothing but just a reminder of what the calendar has counted. Be inspired and learn a new trick.

EARNERS ARE LEARNERS

This is a lesson you can learn from Bill Gates. Bill Gates endeavours to read a book a week and he works on the inspirations he get from the books he read. Up till today, his ability to earn remains unquestionable.

You can earn better than using your university certificate to work in a company. Be inspired by reading great motivational books

-         You will soon become a leader; engage in reading so that you can acquire enough wealth of knowledge in successive leadership strategies.

-         Read beyond your academic notes; they majorly contain the basic principle on the field you master. Reading motivational books and news on current issues will aid you to know what you can offer for your society. As a result you will become a renown useful element in your society.

-         Do not see yourself too old for reading. You can still learn new idea that will change your life positively.
